WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 1, 2015) — Today, the Open Technology Institute at New America announced that Travis Moore will be joining the organization to lead TechCongress, a nonpartisan Congressional fellowship program. The OpenGov Foundation is thrilled to see the next step in bringing technical talent and experience into Congress and Seamus Kraft released the following statement:
“In our increasingly complex and connected world, congressional decision-makers can no longer afford to view technology in isolation from policy,” said Seamus Kraft, Executive Director of The OpenGov Foundation. “Without a concerted effort to increase the technical capacity of Members and staff, Congress risks falling even further behind. The Congressional Innovation Fellowship is a fantastic public-private approach to this seemingly intractable problem.”
“There is a vibrant ecosystem of civic technology organizations on the outside of Congress supporting the ‘Islands of Excellence’ on the inside, and the TechCongress fellowship will be undoubtedly be a tremendous connector, collaborator and capacity-builder. As Travis Moore and his seasoned team of advisors work to implement the program, we look forward to supporting their efforts however we can.”
TechCongress is looking to place fellows in early 2016. Learn more about the program and apply here: http://www.techcongress.io/
